Kia EV 4 GT Line S

07/10/2026 by Steve Leave a Comment

Kia EV 4 GT Line S in Magma Red is my replacement for my 2022 Kia Niro EV 4. I drove KEV (we name all our cars!) for the last time on 1st October 2026 after 4 years of trouble free driving. The Niro was a great car with good range of well over 200 miles in all conditions and regularly returning 4 plus miles per kWh. The only cost incurred was the regular annual service.
KEV’s last journey (apology for the slightly blurred picture but it was Karen taking it!)……

My replacement was another KIA electric vehicle this time an EV 4 GT Line S in magma red. I decided not to by new as I was hit with a substantial depreciation on the Niro EV which was purchased new in 2022. I had been waiting for a low mileage demonstrator in either red or blue.

I made an enquiry with Jordan Swift of Murray Kia at Brixton where I purchased KEV from 4 years ago. As luck would have it he had a courtesy car being released for sale after just 3 months on their fleet and with only 1000 odd miles on the clock.

I visited, took it for a test drive and did the deal. I was much happier paying £10000 below the retail price of a new one and had a better than expected part exchange price on Kev. With just 14800 miles driven on KEV I know he will be a fantastic second hand buy for someone.

The new car arrives….

The EV 4 is much more refined than the NIRO. The dashboard and control setup is also much easier to use. It has an 81.4 kw nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) lithium-ion polymer battery with 78 kW useable. The wltp range of 362 miles it has more than enough range for my needs plus it has V2Load which had proved very useful when we have had power cuts whilst owning KEV.

The car was displaying 331 miles with 96% of charge when I arrived home so in perfect driving conditions it might even reach the WTLP stated range. However no previous EV that I have owned has ever lived up the the manufacturers claims. It comes with the same level of trim that KEV had, heated and ventilated seats, sunroof, heads up display and a host of annoying drivers aids that bing and bong at you until you learn how to turn them off!

This one also is fitted with the additional heat pump which is another £900 addition at new. You can see the full specifications here Kia EV 4 GT Line S Specifications

Its early days but it does seem a lot smoother and more comfortable than Kev.
