Take Time Out From Your Woodturning For Beginners Videos. I watched lots of very informative videos on youtube when I started out as a beginner with my wood turning lathe. You can see my useful woodturning for beginners projects page here.

Whilst watching numerous beginners guides I came across the Sampson Boat Company youtube channel and soon became hooked on Leo and his project of rebuilding the wooden sailing yacht Tally Ho. I have been glued to each new episode and have subscribed to the channel to receive regular updates.

It is an astonishing project. He has brought together a large band of expert craftsmen to help him over the years. Tally Ho is now fast approaching completion. I am in awe of Leo and the skills and effort he has put in to this project.

He describes his channel as follows:

I’m on a mission to rebuild a 1910 English sailing yacht called Tally Ho. Designed by Albert Strange in 1909, she is a well-known and important historic vessel – but after many adventures she was left in a remote port in Oregon to rot for decades, despite some valiant attempts to rescue her. I bought her and moved her to the Olympic Peninsular earlier this year, and am now rebuilding her from the keel up. Eventually I hope to sail her back to the UK.
