Learning to be an affiliate web marketer can be a daunting prospect for many people. Learning to be an affiliate marketer when you have retired from a 30 year career and not being very computer literate would seem an impossible challenge. I can say now from experience over the last 3 years, if I can do it then anyone approaching or already in retirement can do it. Yes you can earn a retirement income from the Internet.
I stumbled upon the concept of a retirement income from the web by accident. My discovery has led me to coin the phrase " I make money in my sleep" which is actually true. When we go to bed in the UK , the USA and other countries are just starting their business day. It is very satisfying to wake up the next day, check my accounts and see an income overnight!
As I approached retirement from the Police in 2007 I had planned and set up with my wife an antique silver business. Karen developed the business in my last 12 months of work and then I took part upon my retirement. We started to sell on ebay and quickly developed a featured shop. It was whilst researching where the traffic came from to our ebay shop that I stumbled upon affiliate marketing. I looked at several traffic sources and found websites which were advertiseing OUR products from ebay. When a sale took place as a result of that person entering our ebay shop from this other website they were paid a small commission by ebay for introducing the customer to our product.
Whilst we had all the hassle of sourcing the goods, photographing, listing, dealing with customer emails, posting and packaging and then paying the ebay fees the other website owner had none of this yet got paid a small commission.
I decided there and then that he had the easier job and I was going to explore Internet Marketing as a retirement income for myself. Now when I started my only ability was to cut and paste text in a word document. I have self taught myself the rest and therefore so can you.
