In this video tutorial on Youtube Lisa an Internet marketing expert who has been earning online since 2006 talks about making money on the internet using Google AdSense. She opens the video with the disturbing fact in her view that over 90% of people setting out to make money with AdSense fail!
She feels the reasons for this is not that AdSense is difficult but that people poorly plan their websites from the very beginning and are therefore doomed before they even start. She frequently gets asked to review websites which contain AdSense Adverts but are only earning a few cents a day. When she visits these websites she regularly sees that they contain too little information or are hotch potch sites and by this she means sites that have information on many subjects from sports right through to politics. In her opinion these webmaster are trying to be the next Yahoo.com or CNN.com by being an all encompassing site for every topic out there. She points out what should by now be obvious to the viewer and that is you are never going to compete with Yahoo or CNN for traffic.
She recommends webmasters create a theme based, content rich, focused website on a topic the webmaster is passionate about.
The reasons for this are:
1. You will enjoy updating your website regularly and have fun coming up with topics that will interest you and you will be creative and soon have 15 or 20 pages of content on your site.
2. The more content you have on your site the more the search engines will rank your site. She points out that Google is looking for sites that are "The Best" in which ever niche you are in. She gives an explanation of a good football website.
Another tip she gives is to look at your website as a new visitor would. What are they here for? What are they going to learn? If YOU have no idea what the visitor is going to be interested in then that may be part of your problem. She reiterates you must find a niche you are interested in and write a ton of content for it. She goes on to give tips on how to make your site more popular.
Now the reason I have included her video on my website is because she is absolutly right. content is KING on the web and unique good content is what Google is seeking to display in its search returns. Now I have created a category on this blog entitled Creating Content For Your website to help readers with ideas for creating fresh unique content. Once you have lots of unique content then traffic and then consequencial revenue will follow. Do not put up a website full of rubbish and expect to earn any money from it.
