Battle Madge Book Review
Amazon describes the book:
The world is falling to the burning shadow of the Possessed and only the power of a battle mage can save it. But the ancient bond with dragonkind is failing. Of those that answer a summoning too many are black. Black dragons are the enemy of humankind. Black dragons are mad.
Falco Dante is a weakling in a world of warriors, but worse than this, he is the son of a madman. Driven by grief, Falco makes a decision that will drive him to the brink of despair. As he tries to come to terms with his actions Falco follows his friends to the Academy of War, an elite training school dedicated to martial excellence.
But while his friends make progress he struggles to overcome his doubts and insecurity. Even Queen Catherine of Wrath has her doubts about Falco’s training.
While the Queen tries to unite the Kingdoms against the Possessed, Falco struggles to overcome his fears. Will he unlock the power trapped inside of him or will he succumb to madness and murder like his father?
My Own Thoughts On This Book:
I will admit I was only drawn to this book by its cover, sad I know. However I thought it was well written with the main character Falco on a journey of discovery and development throughout the novel.
I do not purchase fantasy books as a rule but this one was good. I even started to like dragons! The plot has some great twists and turns which I had not anticipated and it kept me gripped until its end.
Overall I think this is a good fantasy read if that is what you enjoy.
About The Author:
Peter Flannery lives in a small village in the Scottish Borders with his wife and two sons. After leaving school he studied art and design before leaving college to work in forestry. However, during an accident at work he broke his neck and, after a month on traction and a year’s convalescence, he moved into horticulture before switching again to set himself up as a sculptor working for the toy industry.
A design studio in Edinburgh provided the opportunity to move from sculpting to writing and he became the lead writer for Target Games UK Ltd. He is now an independent writer working on a range of titles for both adults and children.
Battle Mage is Peter’s second book. The first book he published was a psychological thriller called First and Only. Following the success of the novel, First and Only is now making a bid for the big screen. To learn more about the forthcoming movie go to: www.firstandonlymovie.com
