To celebrate the end of my first financial year as an Internet Marketer I decided that having paid the accountant, set aside the money for the Inland Revenue, paid the National Insurance and all the other charges that no one mentions when you set up as self employed that it was time to spend some money on me. Well that’s my excuse for buying an Ipad2. I decided it was time for me to start my next phase of learning with this new technology.
I had recently taken a week off and with my wife Karen we went and stayed overnight at the Pier House Hotel In Charlstown Cornwall. This hotel over looks Charlestown Harbour which is the Home to the Square Sail Company . They own a number of traditional square rigged sailing ships one of which is the Earl Of Pembroke. (The 2nd largest of the fleet, The Earl of Pembroke was originally named Orion and was built in Pukavik, Sweden in 1948.She traded timber in the Baltic and British East Coast until being laid up in Denmark in 1974.Square Sail purchased her in 1979 and in 1985 she underwent a complete restoration programme. In 1994 she was commissioned as the three masted 18th century wooden Barque that she is today). We had booked a 3 hour sail on her for the following day. The forecast was for a force 5-7 wind and rain which meant it would be nice and choppy for our trip.
Now I am a great fan of the Master And Commander series of books by Partick O Brian (affiliate link which will take you to his books on ebay) and have read the 21 books a number of times hence I had always wanted to step aboard a square ship proper. I am pleased to say the trip did not disappoint. If you are visiting Cornwall and want a good half day out for £40 per person then you must give this a go.
Anyway I had taken a series of pictures on my camera which I transferred to my Ipad2. My first disappointment with the Ipad is you can transfer pictures but not videos from a PC to it unless you change the format of the video. To do this means buying a conversion software which I have yet to do.
Once I loaded the pictures I downloaded a free App called Videolicious. This great little App allowed me to choose 10 pictures and dictate a 50 second voice over which it then turned into a neat little video with music. At this stage I am just learning the process so I expect I will find out how to change the free music tracks to something more sedate in the future.
Once you choose the music track you click a button and then it creates the video. Uploading the video to my newly created video channel on Youtube could not have been easier.
Now I include the video here. Have a look and let me know what you think (be gentle please!) It is my first effort
